Mod #27: Drip Rail Extensions

Don’t you just love those unsightly black streaks on your RV from the water dripping off the roof and running down the sides? This is caused by two things: the dirt and grime accumulated on the roof over time that is washed off by water, and the drip rails where the water is channeled which by design don’t allow the water to drip far enough away from the side of the RV. Cleaning the RV is already a pain and you don’t want have to spend extra time scrubbing those stubborn black streaks. Oh what to do? The drip rail extension mod!

Mod Difficulty:

This mod is so easy, one wonders why RV manufacturers don’t just include them as standard. Maybe the black streak cleaner and drip rail extension manufacturers pay the RV manufacturers to conveniently forget to add them. Who knows? But you can make sure you’re not part of some grand conspiracy by just installing them yourself.

There are many names for the drip rail extensions: drip rail extensions, gutter spouts, drip spouts, gutter extensions, etc. They are all pretty much the same. I’ve taken it upon myself to make the official name “drip rail extensions”. They come in a pack of four and are oriented for left-to-right and front-to-back installation. But don’t let that confuse you. Just make sure when you snap them on to the ends of the drip rails, you pay attention to which one goes where as they should be marked.

The hardest thing about this mod is getting the ladder out so you can reach the drip rails. And while you’re up there, scope out the roof. It might need some cleaning.

ModMyRV recommends these parts for this mod:
CAMCO Gutter Spout With Extension - 4 Pack
RV Drip-Guard Gutter Spout Extenders - Set of 2
