Mod #21: BBQ Hookup

Tired of lugging an extra propane tank around just for your BBQ? Don’t like the high cost and inconvenience of those little 1 pound propane canisters? What if you could connect your RV’s propane supply directly to your BBQ as simply as say, plugging in your shore power cord? The BBQ hookup mod is just what you’ve been waiting for.

Mod Difficulty:

There are two ways to connect your BBQ propane supply hose to the RV: using a low-pressure or a high-pressure connection. Which one you choose depends on whether your BBQ has a pressure regulator or not. Typically, most BBQs will have a pressure regulator so you can connect the supply hose to the RV either way, that is, directly to the propane tank or after the the RV pressure regulator.

If your BBQ does not have a regulator, then you must connect your supply hose to the low pressure side of the RV propane distribution hose or pipe. This is done by inserting a tee in to the supply line and fitting a quick disconnect valve to the tee. Then you fit a quick disconnect male fitting to the end of the BBQ supply hose and connect the hose to the quick disconnect valve. Voila. Instant propane.

To help reduce the amount of work necessary to retrofit the BBQ hookup mod to your RV, there are several kits available that make this mod really easy. Follow the links below and you will be well on your way to propane supply utopia.
