I recently added a front receiver hitch to my TV in order to carry my bikes while hauling my 5th wheel. I considered a bumper hitch, but I have a hollow bumper for my sewer hose and I also did some research on how people have lost bikes and carriers off the back due to the severe bumpiness during travel.

My truck is sizeable, so I didn't want to put the bikes up on top. My only solution was to put them in front. I got a Curt hitch installed(around $350 installed) and proceeded to haul my bikes to Door County, WI.

It took a little getting used to, but it worked like a charm. Besides, I could keep an eye on the bikes up front, as opposed to wondering if they were scattered all over the road if kept in back!

I have been looking for ways to carry my two bike. I am interested in doing the same thing to my 5th wheel. Do you have some pictures you can post so that m welder friend can see how to make it and install it. Thanks

I added a front hitch as well and have my bike rack and canoe goalpost carrier attached to the draw bar.  I use ratcheting straps to the tow hooks to keep the whole thing stable.  I carry three bikes and a canoe on the roof of my truck.  I bought a bigger drop-down draw bar this year to get the bikes a little lower and out of my line of vision.  You have to watch that the tires on the bikes have enough clearance from the road that you dont catch them on thing.  I have pictures if anyone needs to see them
