Hi: I purchased a nice little 19' Aerolite last Dec. in the middle of some really lousy weather. It was 1 yr old, but barely used. The salesman was hungry… The stove & oven still had packing in them! It is just me & my wife, our kids are grown & gone, so 19' is enough. It's still a few yrs before retirement, so vacations must be planned… I work as a commercial bldg mechanic, so I'm not afraid to tear into any system. I have a '08 Dodge 3/4 ton w/diesel to tow with.
I like doing mods on stuff, and our trailer is no exception. So far, I've:
Added a second sewer hose holder, by the old one.
Added to the Winegard antenna a little DTV thing, that seems to kinda work…
Added an expansion tank (accumulator) to the water line out of the pump.
Added a 'hard start' capacitor to the AC compressor.
Added screen things to the furnace vents.
Removed the miserable exhaust fan in the restroom, switched it for a Fantastic fan that works. (Found a cheap one on Ebay).
Switched most lighting to LED. Finding 'warm white' LEDS was difficult.
Put in new shower curtain that swings out, the shower was so narrow before!
Installed plastic guards to both ends of the tub, now no water gets on the floor.
Upgraded shower head to some fancy-shmancy air-injected thing. I like it.
Removed the semi-corroded cable jack, found loose connection, attached new connector and put new gold-plated jack on RV exterior, with a bit of deox to prevent further problems (I hope).
Well, that's all I can think of. Planned projects are:
Get 2 6v golfcart batteries at Costco, to replace the junk 12v it has now.
Move the stupid toiletpaper holder (it's in the way!)
Solar, someday???
A generator, so we can dry-camp. One using propane would be nice…
Better storage for my 30A cord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gets tangled shoving it into the stupid hole supplied!!!!!!!! Then I try to pull it out, & it's a knot!!!!! THIS REALLY BOTHERS ME, JUST SITTING HERE & THINKING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I'm formulating a possible plan:
I may “Cut the cord”. Attach a 30A twistlock permantly on the trailer, and a 30A twistlock on the cord. Then, I'll store the cord inside. I may even have a long & a short cord. I could even make up an adaptor to connect the two. I don't know.
Has anyone else had this problem???????????
Anyway, Howdy everyone who took the time to read my adventures & rants. Dave.
ps: I'd post pics, but haven't figured how to, yet…
