Hi All—Just logged in as a new user. Have a 5th wheel that I will be installing Home Depot, Allure flooring in this spring. Good info on the laminate flooring install that will be similar to Allure flooring install. Still not sure how to deal with the slide out going over the new floor but the suggestion of laying a test piece of plywood down first before installing the flooring is a good idea.

Spent 4 months in Mexico this winter and saw a few train wrecks on rv's—mostly springs breaking or welds letting go from axle to frame. New springs required to fix and in one case a whole new axle—both required new tires as they were scrubbed off. Perhaps a ModMyRV tip on how to beef up the suspension on a 5th wheel would be an idea.

Welcome to the forums Seabreeze! I too am interested in how to deal with slideouts and laminate flooring. It seems in most cases, one is replacing carpet with laminate so the thickness is about the same for each. But just placing the laminate over lino is where we need to get creative since we're adding overall thickness to the floor.

The weld failures and spring breakage that you saw: did you notice what manufacturers the RVs were? Most breakage is due to overloading or lack of maintenance. Beefing up the springs without also beefing up the frame may make the frame subject to failures. But good suggestion on strengthening towable RV suspension. I'll certainly keep that in mind for another mod.

Happy modding!
