Hi all,

I live in Regina, SK which has an extreme climate. I RV year round at temperatures as low as -37 C (-34 F). I've always had a bit of concern that the fresh water system might freeze during one of my trips.

I have added a mechanical thermostat which controls some small wattage heater rods, and a 220 volt light bulb. The thermostat “lives” by the water pump and I keep it set at 10 C (50 F).

I added a second thermostat (set at 4 C {40F}) in the enclosed waste tanks area which controls a 500 watt fan based heater.

I added a 115 volt outlet in the waste tanks area. I find it quite useful to have AC power on the “other” side of my RV.

Both of these modifications are powered from my inverter or shore power.

Total cost was under $100.00.

That probably makes your bathroom floor warmer if your tanks are beneath your bathroom floor….
