My 2005 4.0 super quite generator(61 hrs) hunts after starting. Down to idle up to 2500 rpm (guess) & down again. Has anyone had similar issues? any known fixes. Changed fuels filters added new gas, cleaned air filter. Don't know where to go from here. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi, sixty-one hours on an about five year old Onan generator is total lack of use. You may have to rebuild the carburetor. But first, I would just let it run for at least one hour and try putting a load on it. It could also be carboned up from so little use. If it won't clear up by-it'self, then you need to take it to an Onan dealer. Some RV places can service and/or repair an Onan, but it's better to take it to an Onan only dealer.

I agree they didn't run it near enough, but it did run well the last time they ran it. months ago?
Thanks for the advice.
