Hi,

I am the new owner of a 99 Jayco Eagle, 28' travel trailer.  I would like to install a 26″ flat panel tv.  The original spot for a tv is in the right corner with one bedroom wall between the cabinet and the bedroom.  All this is just as you walk in the door to the trailer.  There is a cabinet with a table top to sit a picture tube type tv.  I would like to install a flat panel here, mounted to the wall between the bedroom and the tv cabinet.  I hope to put it on that wall, so the tv can be swung around about 180 degrees so it can be viewed from the bedroom.  Im not sure if I will be able to find a mount with enough travel so that it sticks out enough and will not be partly hidden by the wall it is mounted on.

My question is about mounting the wall mount.  I am not sure about finding a stud.  There doesn't appear to be a stud in the area where I want the mount to go.  A friend suggested mounting a large 12 to 15 inch square piece of plywood on the back side of the wall, but that is where the bedroom door slides when open.  Another suggestion was to get inside the wall to place the support, but I'm not sure how this would be done.  Has anyone done this mod before?, or have any suggestions.  Thanks for all your help.

Have you tried using a stud finder to find the studs??  I have a fiberglass over aluminum studs and did not think it would work so I waited till it was cold enough and I could see the studs by the condensation on the outside and got out my stud finder and low and behold it actually worked.
