Thanks for the insight Admin.
Ive just ordered the VDC BatteryMINDer Charger-Maintainer-Desulphator-Conditioner for battery maintenance. My TT came with a Interstate 24type deep cycle and I hope to keep it in good condition util I decide what my battery setup will be.
Im a weekend camper, so the battery setup will have more “idle” time than use time. I was really hoping to accomplish a setup that would give me the power I need in the event I camp where there is no AC available, and still retain a good operating condition when it sits idle during the week. (storage facility/outside). The TT has a 3-stage charging system during towing and site AC hook-up, but its the 5dys of sitting that has me concerned. I really dont want to be removing the batteries every sunday evening, only to load them up on Friday. There may be times the TT will sit for 2wks or even 3wks if conditions and situations dont allow me to use the it. I just dont want to end up ruining 2 perfectly good Trojan batteries. (big $).
Your set-up sounds great … but I believe that my '10 Forest River r-Pod 177 couldnt withstand the weight involved with that many 6V batteries, plus 2-12V in reserve. Im thinking about the 2-12V run together (as you recommended) with a 12V (the original Interstate) as a reserve/ back-up/emergency.
Let me know what ya think. And any advice concerning “lead acid” vs “AGM” batteries ???
THANKS !!!
