Has anyone ever done a backsplash around the kitchen stove and behind the sink?  If so, please advise as to the materials used and how to do it.

I just went to our local home improvement store and bought some plexiglass. We cut it to size, and I just kept it in place with 4 small pieces of velcro on each corner. Much easier to clean, but do make sure your hot pans don't touch the plexi.

Been thinking about this myself.

One possibility I considered is finding a stainless steel cookie sheet and fitting it to the wall.

Also considered a (stainless) baking sheet (with the lip) and putting a piece of plywood inside, then gluing together and using the flanges on the lip to screw to the wall.

I'm somewhat surprised how little is available at the home stores in the way of back splashes - mostly just pressed metal stuff that really doesn't fit our camper interior.

I also thought that if I limited the backsplash to just behind the stove, I might be able to get away with two or maybe four of the large ceramic floor tiles with flex additive in the grout.  Probably would then remove the panelling and put in a backer board and maybe mount that on something flexible so it wouldn't torque along with the walls if they flexed.

Ooo there is a post on RV.net where the backsplash mod features two rows of glass tiles along the bottom, and those backsplash tiles from Home Depot that look like tin ceiling tiles.  It is so beautiful, and definitely on my must-do list.

Does anyone know if the backsplashes at Home Depot that look like ceiling tiles are heat resistant enough to use as a stove top backsplash?
