I have an atwood 10 gallon hot water heater. It will not heat the water on the electric side.  only works with the propane on. I have the switch on. The person we bought it from says it may be heating element. says he has replaced one of them and it was on the outside of the travel trailer, however it is not on the outside since the label on the outside says its located on the other side! does this unit run off electric only or does it have to have propane on at the same time also?

what type of rv do you have? cause I found this blog about ppl having similar problems. Maybe this link will answer your problem that other ppl have had about the same issue.
