Hi, this project was done just for fun and now you can buy a similar light control box for less money than I spent just on parts. With this box you can turn on your trailer lights using the power from your trailer's battery/ies. You just plug your trailer connector into this box and flip a few switches. On mine, you can turn on the running lights, turn on the brake lights, turn on both the running and brake lights, leave them on steady, or have them flash. This is a fun toy at rallies and a safety device if you have to un-hook and leave your trailer on the side of the road, especially at night. Sorry, I do not have a wiring diagram; I built it step by step, made some changes and when it was done, well I don't really know where my papers went.

Very nicely done, well thought out and well executed.
I could have used that when my truck broke down in a blinding rainstorm in the Ozark mountains.
Had to leave the Montana along the side of the road for 1/2 day.

Hey Bob,
Happy New Year…
Great job on your control box. I've been thinking of building a similar set-up for our 5ver, as we lost a wheel last summer due to broken studs and had to leave our 5ver on the side of the road for a few hours while I went to get parts.
You mention there is a ready built unit now for sale, can you tell us where or provide a link, or can you sell the same homebuilt units to members?
thanks
Rick T.

Hi, Rick. I did a quick search and came up empty handed, but I know I saw one [light box] in an RV magazine. The one I made would end up too expensive for anyone to want to buy. I may in the future try and make a simpler one. You can use a jumper wire or a flasher unit plugged into your seven way connector, but I prefer a more proper way of doing things.

Hey Ozz,
Thanks for the link. Great article, nice looking FlashCube. However went to Westhaver Associates website and it says “due to the economic downturn they have been forced to close their doors”.
That's too bad, I hate to hear of anyone struggling in these times, let alone closing.
I guess perhaps we should be buying more “ready made” products when we can, in order to support these small businesses rather than heading to the work bench sometimes. Sad days when someone closes a business esp. an RV related business.
