Hi, my water pump was vibrating and noisey. I wanted to buy a silencer kit, but my water pump has 90 degree fittings on it and the kit is straight fittings only. Since I did my bathroom faucet change, I have the copper ring crimping tool. So I need 6' of clear/braided water hose, One 1/2″ to 1/2″ PEX brass fitting, one copper ring, and four hose clamps. Here is one of the problems, the hose. A 1/2″ I.D. hose is too large for a 1/2″ PEX fitting. This doesn't make sense. And a 3/8″ I.D. hose is too small. Well, 1/2″ PEX is about 12 mm. So thinking this over I came up with this: 1/2″ is about the same size as 13 mm. 3/8″ is a bit larger than 10 mm, almost 11 mm. So to make this work and not leak, I bought 6' of 3/8″ hose and forced it over the 1/2″ [12 mm] fittings. They were so tight, that I probably didn't need to use hose clamps, but I used them anyway. My original water pump was directly connected to PEX so the pump vibrations pretty bad. It's better to give the pump some room to flex and with the new hoses looped, it's much better. I may in the future add an accumulator to the system. This cost me less than $10.00 in parts.
