Hello,
This is my first post but have been lurking & snatching ideas from this great site for the past couple of months now. I have since installed solar panels, a solar charge controller, AGM batteries, and an inverter as a result of the great contributions from this site.
I too wanted to contribute.. prior to visiting this site had made a flip-down LCD mount for my toy-hauler attached to the bottom of the rear (retracting) bunk beds. You can potentially extend this idea to a ceiling mount by modifying the mount.
first off, here's a couple (crummy blackberry) pictures of the mount in it's stowed position:

Here is a close-up of the locking mechanism for the stowed position:

Here is a group-up shot at the unit in it's stowed position:

Here is a close-up of the hinge area. Note the mounting plate. There is another mounting plate of the same size on the opposite side (on top) underneath where the bed goes that serves as a massive reinforcing washer (thereby sandwiching the bed platform) for a solid mount.

Here is the unit in it's down/use position. It has a nice natural down angle to it (excuse the wiring, I am still figuring out wiring management):

This is a distant shot to give perspective of it's great position. The seat on the bottom left of the picture is one that can flip it's backrest the opposite way (another mod I did) allowing that seat to face the TV.

and the other side:

This month has been 8 months in use now. It has traveled through some bumpy roads, potholes, a couple road shoulders, a flat tire vibration, and a tongue drop and has managed to keep this TV alive and well. I personally think that part of it's success was 1) the use of over-spec'd material and 2) the extension of the mount to include the TV (as with all other TVs) bottom mount incorporated into the mount system as seen here:

lastly, another shot of the bottom mount extension:

anyways, hope you like it.. if you have any ideas - lemme know.. i might be willing to try them out.. oh, and yes, I've thought about shock dampeners and motorized applications but none of them really appeal to me.
btw, in case you're interested, this crummy old(er) Panasonc 33″ LCD actually has HDMI. This HDMI is wired to an Acer Revo (google “Acer Revo” for more info). The Acer provides:
1) 720p-1080p movie file viewing (and is hooked up to a speaker selector to output movie audio to all cabin speakers)
2) Internet connectivity for browser, google earth (trip planning), access to email, youtube, modmyrv.com, etc
3) Garmin GPS map application (MapSource) synchronization with GPS units (we use Garmin Rinos for desert riding)
4) is hooked up to a speaker selector that allows to output audio to the exterior speakers

I will take pictures of my own Acer Install and update this post later.. Anyways… hope you enjoyed the post!!!
~cheers~
