Using a OTC dog bone to run a RV airconditioner will usually burn up the connections. By using both sockets of a standard duplex outlet will provide the 15 to 20 amps without burning up the connector. I have proven this with my cheater box over the last two years. Also works on my Honda 2000i generator for boondocking.

As a update on the cheater box.

Hurricane michael (yes a small “m”) destroyed the bedroom portion of my home along with 85% of the county power poles. We were fortunate to have the MH to move into immediately. With power out and no chance of being available for weeks we resorted to generator. The Onan was cranked for the first day but gas was almost non-existant.

Out came the Honda 2000i and my cheater box. Long story-short the little red ran almost continously for 405 hours. It would run for 45 to 50 hours then be shut down only long enough for a oil change. Adveraging 2.5 to 3.5 gallons of gas per day was a blessing. Using the aux fuel tank no worries about running out of gas during the night. (On day 3 after storm we drove to another town 2 hours away in the pick up with a 50 gallon storage tank in the back for fuel.)

We were blessed to have air conditioning, hot showers, confy bed ETC.

It was a real torture test of the little red Honda to perform flawlessly for 16 days running the RV with air conditioning.
