Hello Happy Camper Friends-
I've updated some pictures from our remodeling adventure. The first several pictures will show before and after. The pictures that follow show the stages of the remodel. We did change our minds a few times about the flooring. We initially laid Teak Allure and Sierra Allure tile. These were all too dark and we weren't pleased so we redid the flooring with Oak Allure and Corfu Allure tile. We painted and custom built transition strips for the slides and also built stairs with storage. Again, the first few images will give a quick before and after. I didn't take as many pictures when we put down the oak and during the painting process. If anyone has questions I'll fill you in. We're really pleased with the final result and wanted to share with you. Safe travels!

I am really impressed with your skills……I would like to see a close up photo of the transition between the floor and the slide out…..I wonder if the slide out will make a mark on the floor when it slides in?

Wonderful mods. Could you go into more detail about the slide transition strip? My husband is trying to tell me that we have to have carpet in here and it's driving me bats. I'd love to show him that we could use the Allure. We used it at our s&b house and really like it.

I love your remodel!
I have a question about your wall painting. Love the terracotta color - it makes the place seem so warm. My question is what was on your wall and what type of paint did you use? We have that generic paneling stuff up and Ididn't know if you could just paint over that.
Thanks!

I hope you don't mind that I am not the OP, but I have experience painting over “generic” stuff. I can tell you that there are two keys to a great job that doesn't scratch off or peel easily. The first is to wipe with a deglossing solution. You *could* wash the whole thing with TSP and then rub it all down with steel wool; I'd go for the solution for less work. Then prime with an oil-base *bonding* primer like Zinsser Bin primer, and then paint. It's been a while, but I think you can use latex paint over this particular primer. This will give you a surface so tough that you can actually repaint *and use* formica or tile countertops (of course countertops would have to have several coats of topcoat.) HTH
