Lazydays wanted to to charge 1K per foot to paint my RV which would have cost $32k. I found this company called Localwraps in Tampa, FL. who use vinyl to put graphics on buses and other vehicles. I asked them to print a paint scheme that I found on a 2009 Via and it was very reasonable. They charged $350 to remove the old graphics which took two days, then 2 days to apply the vinyl paint scheme. Now we have a modern looking RV which should last 10 years for a few grand.

Pre-wrap original paint scheme
Below, vinyl wrap application. Printed on 3m vinyl and then just applied instead of painting. These guys took a picture of my RV, and put the scheme on in photoshop.

We put a Ft. Wilderness theme on the back because the kids love Disney. You can see through it from inside the RV

That is awsome…….I wonder if that would work on the front of my TT…It has faded and does not shine any more……So how much was the cost to do the vinyl wrap?? I live close to Tampa and see a lot of wrapped vehicles I wonder if that is their work…..

They can do any color, match old graphics, or paint scheme. Really neat. Plus it has been a snap to wash since it is smooth vinyl. Call Bill at local wraps. Real nice guys. Awesome customer service too. They do free artwork as well. John

(I don't have any financial interest in the company, just think they had good service)

Just wanted to comment that this is a great idea and seems like an ideal solution to an expensive problem. We just bought my FIL's 1996 Excel. It's been garaged its entire life and, due to unfortunate health issues, wasn't used very much when it was new. Plus he is one of those people who takes immaculate care of everything. You'd never guess it is as old as it is, but since we will be living in it six months out of the year, I'm certain its age will start to show at some point. I really like the idea of being able to spiff it up for less than the cost of another camper.

How hard is it to get the old vinyl graphics off? Does it leave a “ghost” image of the previous graphics or adhesive?
Regards,
John

WOW thats a great idea. I would love to do mine in the Multicam camo pattern. It would practically disappear when parked in the woods! LOL.

Very interesting…I want to know more It would be nice to hear from someone who has done this 4, 5, 6 years ago as to how their printed wrap holds up. On my rig (38' motorhome), the decals were the first to show aging (mottled and curled edges)…though maybe they were just more noticeable (but I guess that is what we concerned about).
I hope others find this thread and keep it going. It certainly would be less expensive than a full body paint job, not exactly cheap though and I would think not nearly as durable or long lasting. It would allow one to create a unique looking rig (especially when the windows can be covered as well). I would think that this wrap could only be applied to flat panels and one plane curved corners, so one's graphics would have to keep that in mind.
Looking forward to more posts on this.
