We've just purchased our 1st RV, a 1999 Monaco Windsor with 1 slide. Due to our allergies, we are ripping out the ancient carpet and want to install engineered hardwood or HW laminate in this entire area, which encompasses the large slide. A trusted friend advised us to use a 1/2″ engineered hardwood floor. However, after reading some entries it looks like most of you tackling this type of job have gone with laminate (esp. Allure from Home Depot). We're open to anything as long as we can cover the entire slide area with the same flooring, and also make sure the floor doesn't get destroyed as the slide moves.

Any suggestions on this? Engineered hardwood vs. laminate? Glue vs. letting floor float vs. stapling/nailing? How to tackle the slide issue? Do we really need to replace the factory slide rollers? Any suggestions/ideas will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.
